Working as an assistant to and reporting to the Senior VP for Industry Expertise. This individual helps to advance tree care businesses by planning and implementing TCIA’s regulatory and legislative advocacy, managing our political action committee, and administering industry ANSI standards.
Educational and Experience Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business management, public administration, or political science preferred or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in government, political campaigns, or advocacy
Experience working in a non-profit or association with an understanding of government relations.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with excellent skills in Word and Excel. Must be able to navigate integrated databases.

Essential responsibilities you must be able to perform:
ANSI Standards (A300, Z133) : A300 - Partner in administering TCIA’s ANSI Accreditation for Standards Development. This includes managing communication among the committee members; supporting the standards development process through adherence to ANSI regulations; managing and editing the standards, based on the committee’s feedback; and assisting with planning, facilitating and attending two annual meetings per year.
In conjunction with TCIA’s representatives in Washington, DC, develop and implement a grassroots advocacy plan designed to engage more members in communicating with elected officials and other policymakers, including a semi-annual fly-in and social media engagement
Support the Senior Vice President for Industry Expertise in many aspects, with a focus on managing communications with Congress and the Administration; attending meetings, briefings and hearings; and assisting with event planning and management; developing policy reports, issue papers, analysis and outreach materials
Maintain database and develop relationships with all organizations that support the tree care industry causes
Work across functional teams, particularly the Meetings, Member Engagement, and Marketing teams, to coordinate efforts with regards to advocacy, political action, and industry standards
Coordinate events and publications in conjunction with the Meetings and Events department ensure awareness is maintained and TCIA initiatives are supported.
Act as TCIA’s liaison with select state agencies, green industry coalitions, and other entities as directed;
Maintain database on elected and appointed public officials, legislation, political demographics, and policy matters.

Physical Demands: Primary functions require physical ability and mobility to work in various event and office settings (4 to 8 hour increments) to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. The individual must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35 lbs.)
