The Manager, Strategic Communications will drive traffic and member engagement by regularly maintaining up-to-date content for all THA messaging channels, including digital and print platforms. The role is responsible for producing and managing content in line with THA’s production process with internal stakeholders to ensure that messaging supports organizational goals, key positions, member engagement, and branding across the family of companies. Responsible for cross-channel communication elements and overseeing all aspects of digital content for THA and its family of companies. Work closely with the Digital Communications Manager to manage content for the THA website and all of the THA family of companies’ websites. This individual will write, gather and/or copyedit all content for Texas Hospitals, THA’s flagship member magazine and other publications. Assist in assigning and engaging freelancers and other contributors. Ensure that all content complies with AP and THA style, and is grammatically correct, accurate and factual.
Knowledge equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications.
Minimum five years in publication management and communications project management preferred. Other public relations, government relations, marketing, and/or advocacy communications experience permitted.
Prior experience in a health care setting is preferred.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs, with proficiency in Word 7.0.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with limited managerial oversight and be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
Experience in creating or managing multi media campaigns.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills required with strong attention to detail.
Proficient in AP and THA style..
Experience using Basecamp or similar as project management tool.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking is required. Ability to take initiative, self-manage, solve problems, meet difficult and conflicting deadlines, and create new, innovative ways to deliver organizational messages.
Ability to grasp complicated health care and legislative topics and convey them in compelling content. Experience and proven ability in both tactical (writing, editing, production) and high-level strategic responsibilities (publication/project planning and client interaction).
