Purpose Provides strategic portfolio management support within the GRM Program Management Office (PMO). The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the initiatives in the portfolio are aligned with the Bank's business strategies and objectives and for the aggregation of program/project level data from across GRM. The incumbent will play key role in financial reporting of initiatives ensuring budgets, forecasts, reporting and analysis are delivered/executed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, procedures and standards.
Leads portfolio prioritization process by:
Guiding the GRM project teams to use common tools and templates for new initiative ideas
Assessing project ideas / opportunities, and gather additional information to understand key drivers and impacts
Prioritizing initiatives based on the overall criticality, strategic alignment, readiness and budget
Supports new initiative business cases and end-to-end funding process by:
Implementing use of common standards in the development of business cases
Reviewing and challenging business cases prior to submission to Executives and/or Strategic Investment Pool (SIP) Committee
Collaborating with business partners (e.g. Finance, Enterprise PMO) to impartially evaluate project proposals, support decision-making and set up projects
Leads Project Governance activities across the GRM Portfolio, including:
Reviews of Program health, risks, issues and dependency management across all Risk areas
Reviews of project / program status dashboards in order to meet bank standards for consistent and clear reporting for executive audience
Training, guidance and coaching to GRM project teams to improve capability and roll out new standards as these are developed
Supporting project leads in completing the New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA)
Contributes to financial analysis and reporting including:
Monthly and quarterly operating budget reports to GRM Finance, Project Sponsors (VPs, SVPs), and other stakeholders as required
Support for annual budget planning
Support for optimization of project/program costs as needed.
Synthesis of project level data into holistic portfolio view for Executive review and decision-making
Performs Post Implementation Reviews (PIR) of completed projects, and supports project leads in maintaining a focus on realizing the desired benefits / outcomes
Helps build an effective portfolio management team, ensuring the right balance between finance and portfolio management experience.
Financial dimensions include Strategic Investment Prioritization (SIP), capital budget, operating budget, etc.
Portfolio management oversight of GRM strategic and regulatory programs
End-to-end portfolio financial reporting
1-2 direct reports (future state)
Broad range of business units supported (e.g. AML, Compliance, Enterprise Risk, Credit Risk, Market Risk, Risk Analytics etc.)
Program governance related coordination with key partner functions, e.g. Enterprise PMO, Finance etc
Project management, Finance, and operational expertise
5+ years of mixed consulting and industry experience preferred
Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with program management discipline and governance framework
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Sound problem solving and critical thinking skills
Experience in Risk Management is an asset
Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
