In Times Higher Education's 2018 analysis of the world's top 1,000 universities, UC Santa Cruz ranked third in world-wide research influence.

It is an exciting time to join the Baskin School of Engineering! Under the leadership of Dean Alexander Wolf, and home to the world-renown UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute, we now have over 100 faculty conducting world-class research, and we are still growing. The Baskin School's commitment to teaching has led nearly one-quarter of all UC Santa Cruz undergraduates to study engineering, and we are training one-third of all graduate students. The Baskin School fosters an entrepreneurial culture; several high tech and biotech companies have been launched by our alumni and faculty, and approximately 65% of UC Santa Cruz's patent portfolio is based on the work of Baskin School faculty.
